August Update.

The last week has not been that great for me.  I have figured out that I need to do my exercise otherwise I do a head dive off the wagon.  Exercise is my link to looking after myself.  I figured this out last week when I did feel like I did a good job eating because I wasn't able to get out for my runs.  I still did my karate but my runs keep my grounded.  Last Wednesday, J didn't get home until 9:30 so I didn't get a chance to run since I am not really into running in the dark.  Friday he left for the weekend and so again I didn't get a run.  Monday I had a great run and I felt like a million bucks but this week has also been a loss.

I tried to get out for a run this morning but J had other plans so I was just getting my shoes on when he left the house to take the dogs for a walk and then he went grocery shopping.  So this would have been okay had I know, I could have taken it into consideration and had a light snack but I didn't know what he was doing and by the time I figured it out it was too late for a snack since it wouldn't have had time to digest some.   So I would either have to go out with an empty hungry stomach or one with something in it, either way that would lead me to feel terrible.  I was so pissed.  I know I blew it out of proportion but I wanted my run and now I will  have to wait until later in the day.  But I will go for my run.

I have lost 3lb this month, which is not great but still I am happy that it is heading in the right direction.  4.5lb to get me down to the next level.  I just need to keep my head in the game and that is why I am posting.  This is a way for me to keep my head in the game and keep on track.

Day 1 - "Fake it, till you make it"

Monday Aug 1.

Breakfast started out with boxed breakfast scrammble and a cup of tea with milk.  I love tea, it makes life better.

Lunch was a pile of leftover grilled veggies, cut up and liberally sprinkled with feta cheese.

I had a honey oat bar for a snack along with a homemade frappuccino.  I will cut the sugar out of those for the next few weeks, but I think that a cold coffee with agave would still be nice.

Dinner was some of the grilled honey garlic chicken thighs with veggies that were cooked in J's sesame miso dressing and some white rice with teriyaki sauce on the side.

It is now 9:45, the kids are awake, I didn't get my run since I ate dinner before the run and I am still pleasantly  full 1 1/2 hours later, that meas a run in the morning.    I am not a fan of morning runs, not do I usually run on days when I already have Karate, but I will just have to do it anyways.

I have been downing soda water with 1/2 a lime in it, so refreshing and great for hydration in this heat.

My body media readings:
Calories Burned (Target 2200) Actual: 2439
Calories Consumed (T 1200) A: 1319
Calorie Deficit (T 1000) A: 1120
Physical activity (T 1hr 30min. 60min moderate, 30min vigorous) A: 1hr 28min mod
Steps taken (T 10,000) A: 9740
Sleep duration (T 8hrs) A: 6hrs 59min

Recap: Ate well and kept my deficit around 1000 cals, but didn't get any vigorous activity and didn't make my step count, probably due to trying to catch up on all the stuff I wanted to post and watching West Wing :)  I will take a quote from West Wing "fake it till you make it."  I will fake it as best as I can.

August Health Challenge.

I am my own worst enemy.  I eat when I am not hungry and I crave sugar and other things that I should try to limit.  So I need to get out of my own way and so I have started to form a plan.  I will probably add things as they go along. My plan so far is

1)If it goes in my mouth, then it gets written down.

2)Activity everyday.  I have Karate on Tuesday and Thursday.  I want to run 2-3 days a week and I want to take some at the Y which might not be the easiest thing to incorporate, but I'll try.

3)No snacks after 8:30.  The kids go to bed around 8 and I don't always eat dinner until after the kids go to bed.

4)Brush and floss my teeth at 8:30, thusly helping prevent the snacking.

5)The next 2 weeks will have no added sugar, that means no baking for a bit.  (Refer back to 1)

6)Positive self-talk. "I am strong, I am confident, I can do this" or something similar that works for that occasion.

I have a plan to make a dream/vision board.  This should help me keep on the straight and narrow, or at least I can hope that it does.  I need a vision, an end goal so that I keep on track.  I think I will make a post out of that process, too.  I am really good at starting out strong and fizzling, usually within hours.  I have made progress with my running so I should be able to with my health.  I have 20-30 lbs to lose and I would like to make at start at it.
